I would like to nominate Bogdan Trukhachov for the Jana Opletal Award because of his exceptional contribution to the international student community in Prague and his continued commitment to human rights, equal treatment, freedom, and the fight against misinformation.

As an international student himself, Bogdan has understood something that is sometimes overlooked: being a student in a foreign country can be exciting, but it can also be confusing, isolating, and difficult. International students often do not know where to find reliable information, who to turn to, or how to understand what is happening around them. Instead of simply being a member of this community, Bogdan decided to actively build something for it.

Through Prague Pulse, he has created a platform that connects international students, Erasmus students, expats, and other people living in Prague with the city around them. The page has become a source of news, information, events, and community stories, helping international people feel more connected to Prague and to each other. Prague Pulse also maintains a strong connection with the Erasmus community and contributes to making Prague more welcoming and accessible to people coming here from abroad.

However, what makes Bogdan’s contribution particularly deserving of this award goes beyond informing people about events or everyday life in Prague.

He uses his platform to stand up for people and issues that deserve attention.

Prague Pulse regularly reports on human rights issues and difficult events happening both in the Czech Republic and around the world. The platform takes a strong position against hatred, discrimination, injustice, and violations of human rights. It has also worked to distinguish verified information from the large amount of misleading and false information circulating online.

At a time when misinformation and propaganda can spread within minutes, Bogdan has made verification and responsible reporting an important part of what Prague Pulse does.
